Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

La Sierra Tops USK with Hat Trick

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The men's soccer team came up on top with a total of four goals, including a hat trick by midfielder, Anthony Garcia. The Golden Eagles defeated The University of Saint Katherine's (San Marcos, Calif.), with an overall score of 4-1.

The first goal scored by Garcia, was assisted by sophomore Rafael Rivera in the 22nd minute of the game. With only two shots by USK in the first half, La Sierra was able to capitalize on their possessions, giving a 1-0 lead to continue onto the second half.

In the second half, USK came in too hot, causing a yellow card on USK's player, Evan Aguirre. Missed shots after shots from both teams, once again midfielder Anthony Garcia was able to score a goal with no assist needed.

With this, Garcia was able to set a tone within the team which led teammate Damian Romero to a goal, also assisted by Rivera. It did not take long for Garcia to score once more with less than 30 minutes on the clock, awarding himself a hat trick for the match.

The score now at 4-0 in the second half, USK battled to the finish and was able to score with five minutes left on the clock.

Thursday night's game under the lights was by far a memorable moment for the Golden Eagles. The communication on the field, followed by their chemistry in passing lead La Sierra to a victory vs. USK (4-1).
