PRESCOTT, Ariz.- La Sierra women's basketball faced Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Prescott, Ariz.) in their first conference game of the Arizona series. The Golden Eagles fell 74-67 in an overtime loss against the Eagles.
Seniors Sydney Wallner and Kaylee Martinez had outstanding nights on the field with 15 points respectively. Wallner came out with 6 assists and 3 rebounds, and Martinez came up with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Sara Weber poured in 12 points of her own with 6 rebounds. Mercedes Ofoegbu posted 9 points and Luiza Rodrigues got in 7, each of them with 6 rebounds. Samantha Greene provided energy off the bench posting 9 points and 4 rebounds. Dynamic player Calla Morgan, contributed with her strategic game play and ball movement.
Golden Eagles had a better overall shooting performance than their opponents with field goals at 40 percent and free throws hitting 77.4 percent.
Golden Eagles trailed Embry-Riddle into the middle of the second quarter where they were able to tie it up 28-28. Embry-Riddle trailed off again leading into the fourth quarter. Golden Eagles made an impressive come back in the fourth scoring 24 points to push the game to overtime. Wallner hit a 3-point shot to push the Golden Eagles ahead. After Embry-Riddle tied it back up, Wallner posted a lay-up to again push them ahead. After a La Sierra foul, Embry-Riddle tied the game again where they broke away and took the win in overtime.
