Riverside, Calif. (September 6, 2022) - Golden Eagles Women's Volleyball comes out on top against Antelope Valley College (Lancaster, Calif.) in their 2022 season home opener. Showcasing some amazing volleyball, La Sierra dominated taking all three sets from the Mardauers (25-11, 25-9, 25-9).
La Sierra and AVC battled toe-to-toe midway through the first set when the Golden Eagles took control up until its completion. La Sierra continued this aggression into the second and third sets demonstrating some excellent volleyball.
La Sierra capitalized with 32 kills throughout the three sets and committed 0 errors in the third set to lead them to victory. Ayana Felton led the offense with 10 service aces and 6 kills, along with 8 digs on defense. Amaya Thomas contributed with 7 kills of her own. Keeley Meka and Brittani Bentley added 24 assists between the pair.
Michele Mendizabal continued her success as a Golden Eagle with 6 digs and 8 kills. Bringing her season total to 79 kills, and career total to 1,246. Mendizabal is well under way to beat her season high of 361 kills.
After securing a win in their home opener, Golden Eagles are looking forward to a promising season led by Head Coach Erin Sintek and Assistant Coach Skye Widdison.
