Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Senior Spotlight: Alyssa Felix

Riverside, Calif. - Captain Alyssa Felix celebrates her Senior Night after making her mark as a Golden Eagle. After five years, the Women's Soccer team is ready to say their goodbyes to the star forward. Felix sported number 19 for the first three years of her career, but made the switch to number 7 last season. This season, Felix has played in and started in all of the Golden Eagles 12 games. She leads the team in goals scored this season with 5. She also adds two assists for a year total of 12 points. Alyssa has one game-winning goal in their first match against Life Pacific for a 1-0 win. Last season, Felix scored 6 goals with 2 assists for a total of 14 points. She also had two game-winning goals. She appeared in 15 games with 15 starts. In her junior year, Alyssa appeared in 13 games with 13 starts to total 4 goals and 8 points. Her sophomore year, Felix appeared in 15 games for 3 goals and 1 assist adding to a total of 7 points. Felix had an impressive Rookie Year with the Golden Eagles. After appearing in 15 games, she scored an insane 11 goals with a career high of 4 goals against Sierra Nevada. She posted 5 assists for a total of 27 points on the year. Over her career as a Golden Eagle, Felix amounts to 29 goals and 10 assists for a total of 68 points in 70 games. With two more games left this season, Alyssa looks to end her career on a high note.

 

Alyssa has already obtained her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology, and is currently pursing a Masters of Arts in Teaching. She hopes to one day be an Elementary School teacher. This season, Felix was awarded Offensive Player of the Week.

 

Alyssa describes her experience at La Sierra as, “It was such an amazing experience. I have met teammates who are my lifelong friends now. I enjoyed every second I got to play with my team. I will always cherish this chapter in my life. I am thankful for all the coaches and I will miss making memories on the field with my teammates.”

Question: What was your favorite sport memory at La Sierra?

Alyssa Felix: My favorite memory at La Sierra is winning a cal pac championship and scoring at nationals with my team. 

 

Q: How long have you been playing this sport and how did you get into playing this sport?

AF: I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. All of my siblings played soccer and I wanted to be just like them.

 

Q: Who is your biggest influence in your life?

AF: The biggest influence in my life is my mom, she inspires me every day to be a better person. 

 

Q: Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?

AF: One of my superstitions is eating some type of berries and drinking coconut water before the game. My pre-game ritual is listening to Passionfruit by Drake. 

 

Q: What is your perfect pre-game meal?

AF: berries, kiwi, protein bar 

 

Q: Go to pump-up song or music?

AF: Men in Paris by Kanye

 

Q: What do you enjoy doing on your off days?

AF: On my off days, I like to binge watch any Star Wars show/ movie, spend time shopping, and napping. 

 

Q: Who is your favorite sports team/player?

AF: Messi and Joe Burrow

 

Q: What are five things you can't live without?

AF: my family, my dogs, candy, guayaki yerba mate, music
