Riverside, Calif. - Women's Soccer faced Arizona Christian University in their last non-conference match of the season where they fell in a close 1-0 decision.
The Golden Eagles were able to get 15 shots off; Alyssa Felix with 4, Arianna Perez 4, Iris Navarro 2, Citlalli Pedraza 2, Alyssa Rangel 2, and Aryanna Ulloa 1. Hannah Masterson at goal added 3 more saves to her stat line.
Both teams battled in the first half to keep the scores to zero. Each team was able to find the back of the net, but found each goal was overturned due to an offsides call. With Arizona Christians being in the 19th minute and La Sierra's being in the 41st minute.
Arizona Christian netted their lone goal in the 65th minute. With a lot of game time left, La Sierra battled back with 7 close shots on goal.
The Golden Eagles showed promise in their talents with a beautiful long shot from Perez to miss just right of the net. Felix had a shot off the crossbar in the 33rd minute of play. Felix had a breakaway in the 68th minute only to be stopped by an incredible save by the goalie. The last shot for the Golden Eagles came from Rangel.
The Golden Eagles defense were also locked in with a nice defensive save from Priscila Alzaga.
Women's Soccer now looks at conference play with their first match being Thursday, September 9 against UC Merced 4:30 pm at home.
