RIVERSIDE - Women's Soccer faced Westcliff University for a preseason match where they fell 1-0 against the Warriors.
Goalkeeper Ali Razon made an incredible 10 saves in the 90 minutes of play.
The Warriors Jysabella Tolentino scored the lone goal of the game in the 25th minute of play off a free kick. The Golden Eagle defense was put to the test in the first half with the Warriors totaling 9 shots. La Sierra was only able to get one off within the first 45. Alyssa Rangel-Esparza was the Golden Eagle solo attempt with the ball missing just left of the goal.
In the second half, La Sierra offense applied more pressure on the Warriors, sending off 6 shots to the goal. Leslie Lopez was the first attempt on goal missing just high. Aryanna Ulloa and Rangel-Esparza were close to tying the game up with their second half attempts, but were ultimately saved by Westcliff goalkeeper.
Women's Soccer opens up conference play with an away match against Soka University Sunday, September 22 at 6:30 pm. They open up conference play at home against Cal Maritime Sunday, September 29 at 2:00 pm.
