Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Golden Eagles Shutout ERAU, Advance to Finals

RIVERSIDE - No. 1 seeded La Sierra men's soccer team shutout the No. 4 seeded Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Eagles, 4-0, in the Semifinal match of the GSAC Championship on Friday, November 7 at 1:00 pm PT.

Vinicius Goncalves scored the game winning goal off an assist from Sean Palena in the 24th minute of play. Christopher Remily ended the first half with a goal to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0 as time ran out.

With Embry Riddle vying for a spot in the finals aggressiveness heighted on both sides of the field. An ejection early in the second half had La Sierra shorthanded for a majority of play. However, that did not stop the Golden Eagles from taking on two more goals. Alexander Munoz and Damian Jimenez in the 84th minute and 87th minute of play.

Abraham Perez stood in goal for the full 90 and recorded 4 saves. La Sierra had 14 attempts with 7 shots on mark. Carlos Leon and Jason Pineda also had good looks on goal, but were just shy of the net.

Men's soccer is set to host Benedictine University Mesa Tuesday, November 11 at 6:00 pm PT. No. 3 seeded Benedictine upset No. 2 seeded Arizona Christian University earlier on Friday, November 7 in a 1-0 victory. La Sierra and Benedictine faced each other earlier in the season in Mesa, Ariz. where the Golden Eagles took the win, 2-1. Leon and Palena each scored goals for La Sierra.
