Women’s Soccer Downed by Warriors, 0-4

RIVERSIDE - La Sierra women's soccer the Westcliff Warriors for a Sunday night match at La Sierra University.

The Golden Eagles fell 0-4 to their former conference member.

In the first 45 minutes, the Warriors applied competitive pressure where they scored their four goals of the match. The Golden Eagles defense stepped up in the second 45 minutes to prevent Westcliff from finding the net.

Goalkeeper Ali Razon totaled 6 saved throughout the match on 14 shots on goal. After a small collision, Razon stepped off the field after 80 minutes of play as a preventative measure. Karissa Macias took over for the final 10 and continued to hold the Warriors down.

Monserrath Arrellano-Ayala was a wall on the defensive line, collecting three defensive saves of her own in the second half. Emily Baro also collected a defensive save in the game.

The Golden Eagles only shot came in the first half from Alyssa Rangel Esparza in the 18th minute of play saved by the Warriors goaltender.

The Golden Eagles move to conference play on Wednesday, September 17 at SOKA in Aliso Viejo for a 4:30 p.m. start.
