Golden Eagles Draws with Hope

IRVINE - La Sierra women's soccer faced Hope International University at OC Great Park Stadium in Irvine, Calif. Tuesday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m.

The score stood at one apiece at the end of the 90. Isabella Iniguez scored the Golden Eagles lone goal in the 75th minute of play, assisted by Tamara Gastelum.

The Royals scored their only goal of the game just 16 minutes into play. Goalkeeper Ali Razon and the Golden Eagle defense were able to keep them at bay for the remainder of the game.

La Sierra totaled four shots on the match, two coming from Iniguez and one apiece from Monserrath Arellano-Ayala and Priscila Alzaga. In goal, Razon totaled 11 saves in the game.

Razon has established herself as a top competitor in the GSAC with 53 saves on the year ranking second. A save percentage of .815 ranks Razon fifth in the conference.

La Sierra had two great chances in the first half with a hard shot ball from Iniguez being blocked by the Royals defense. Arellano-Ayala also offered an opportunity, but Hope's goalkeeper was able to get her hands on the ball.

In the second half, Alzaga tried to get the Golden Eagles on the board early with a shot just under a minute into play. Again, Royals goalie smothered the attempt. With a fresh set of legs on the field, Iniguez took advantage of her opportunity to score and netted a ball from Gastelum. This stands as Iniguez first goal of the season. Gastelum also picked up her first assist.

The Golden Eagles are next set to return home to face Arizona Christian University Thursday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m. The game will also stand as Fan Appreciation Day.
