Golden Eagles Defeat OUAZ for First Conference Win

RIVERSIDE - La Sierra women's basketball faced Ottawa University Arizona in their first conference match of 2026. The Golden Eagles defeated the Spirit, 76-60.

Breonna Martinez led the charge for the Golden Eagles with 17 points. She also added three assists and six steals to her stat line. Yasmine Garrett also contributed to the Golden Eagles win posting 16 points. She ended the game with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, and 7 steals proving to be a huge component to this conference play victory.

Sydney Wilson and Amaya Sanchez each added 15 and 14 points respectively. Wilson posted 3 rebounds and 2 assists while going 2 for 2 from three point territory, and Sanchez added 1 rebound, 4 assists and 2 steals. Naomie Munane had a team high of 7 rebounds.

As a team, the Golden Eagles totaled 32 rebounds, 15 assists, 21 steals, and 2 blocks. This win marks the women's basketball team's first win in the GSAC for conference.

Ottawa was first to get up on the board, but La Sierra was quick to take the lead and end the first quarter up two. The Golden Eagles remained in the lead for the remainder of the three quarters to secure the win.

Women's Basketball is next set to face Benedictine University Mesa at home on Thursday, January 8th at 5:30 p.m.
