Harford makes History on Way to Individual and Team Top 10 Finish

The La Sierra University Men's Golf Team made program history this week, competing in its first 54-hole event as a full team at the Coyote Springs Invite, hosted at Coyote Springs Golf Club in Moapa, NV.

In the team's inaugural three-round appearance, the Golden Eagles battled the desert layout with grit and steady improvement, finishing 10th overall with a three-round total of 989.

Harford Sets School Record, Earns Top-10 Finish

Junior Kyle Harford delivered a historic performance, firing a school-record 3-under-par 69 to vault himself into contention and ultimately secure a top-10 finish.

Harford was tied for the tournament lead through 46 holes before an unfortunate break on the par-5 11th led to a costly triple bogey. Refusing to let the moment define his week, Harford responded with resilience, including his second consecutive birdie on the par-3 17th to steady his round and remain inside the top 10. He closed the tournament at 4-over par, capping one of the strongest individual performances in program history.

Stopp Provides Stability

Junior Ky Stopp finished second on the team with a 54-hole total of 247. His week was highlighted by determination in round two, where he birdied his final hole to break 80. That clutch finish helped propel the Golden Eagles to their best team round of the tournament — a 327.

Young Core Shows Growth

Freshman Tyler Cole and junior Ryker Lazo both posted three-day totals of 261, each improving their score in every round — a strong sign of consistency and development.

Cole's tournament highlight came with a clutch birdie on the 16th, while Lazo opened the final round in impressive fashion, playing his first seven holes in just 1-over par to set the tone early.

Freshman Austin Covert finished with a 275 total, shaving five strokes off his opening round score as the tournament progressed. His week was punctuated by a birdie on the 7th hole to close out round two on a high note.

Competing individually, freshman Jordan Lopez recorded a 307 three-day total. His perseverance stood out in the final round, where he carded back-to-back pars on holes 16 and 17 in one of his strongest stretches of the tournament.

The Golden Eagles continue building momentum and will return to competition March 23–24 at the Coyote Classic, hosted at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont.

With history already made and confidence growing, La Sierra's young squad is proving it belongs on the collegiate stage.
