Riverside, Calif. – La Sierra University Women's Flag Football team is playoff bound. The Golden Eagles clinched the # 2 seed in the GSAC after the completion of Thursday's game. The ladies of La Sierra finished up their season on the road in Arizona apart of the GSAC Flag Football Jamboree.
At the GSAC Jamboree hosted by OUAZ, the Golden Eagles went 2-1 in their 3 games against the Arizona schools. They opened up play on Wednesday with a decisive 27-7 win over Benedictine Mesa. Only to turn around a cap off the first day of games with a victory over OUAZ 38-6. In the second and final day of the jamboree La Sierra faced Arizona Christian, where they lost 14-26.
The Golden Eagles offense was led by Quarterback
Ariana Rivera, who amassed 585 yards passing on 64 completions with 6 touchdowns for the week. Rivera spread out the offensive production, amongst several receivers
Grace Galdamez,
Hayley Medina, and
Kaylee Mejia.
Grace Galdamez had 7 receptions for 131 yards with 1 touchdown. Medina had 20 receptions for 137 yards.
Kaylee Mejia led La Sierra receivers with 25 receptions for a total of 162 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Danielle Gomez racked up 2 receiving touchdowns over the same span.
The Golden Eagles will head back out to Arizona to compete for the GSAC Conference Championship next week. Seeded in the #2 slot, they will play host to the #3 seeded Arizona Christian. The game will be played at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ.
