RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Danae Burroughs scored the deciding goal in the 78th minute as La Sierra rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Pacific Union 2-1 on Sunday, Aug. 30. The Golden Eagles scored twice after the break, improving to 2-1-0 while dropping Pacific Union to 0-3-0.

Pacific Union struck first at 9:23 when Leslie April Reyes converted an assist from Rose Portillo. La Sierra generated four shots in the opening half and nearly equalized at 37:32, but Pacific Union goalkeeper Scarlet Gonzales stopped Bianca Ahumada's attempt to preserve a 1-0 halftime lead.

The Golden Eagles increased the pressure immediately after halftime. At 49:10, Bianca Ahumada scored the tying goal from an assist by Priscila Alzaga. Bianca Ahumada led La Sierra with four shots and placed three on goal while playing 86 minutes.

La Sierra's sustained attack produced the decisive sequence late in the second half. Priscila Alzaga put a shot on target at 76:23, but Claire Gornik made a defensive save. The play led to a La Sierra corner kick, and @Danae Burroughs scored unassisted at 77:05 to give the Golden Eagles their first lead. Danae Burroughs finished with three shots, including two on goal, and recorded the game-winning goal in the 83^rd minute.

The Golden Eagles finished with commanding advantages of 15-3 in shots, 9-1 in shots on goal and 6-1 in corner kicks. Eleven of La Sierra's shots came after halftime, while Pacific Union did not record a second-half attempt. Olivia Chavez played the final 45 minutes in goal as the Golden Eagles protected the one-goal lead and completed the comeback in front of 150 spectators.
