Rocklin, CA - Playing
their second match, on their northern California tour, the Golden Eagles went
up against William Jessup University.
Despite the slow start, La Sierra bounced back to win Games 2, 3, and 4
for the victory. William Jessup
controlled play early, cruising to a 25-15 win in Game 1, but it was all Golden
Eagles after that, as they would go on to win the match 25-17, 25-19, 25-19.
Lina Semaia led the team in kills with 12. Playing in front of family and friends,
Shelby Madigan, the Meadow Vista, CA, native, finished the match with 11 kills
and five digs. And junior setter Colleen
Stafford added 27 assists and nine digs.
For the second match in a row, La Sierra finished with a
very respectable hitting percentage of .238.
But as opposed to yesterday's match the Warriors finished with a higher
hitting percentage (.340) but would still drop the match. Each team finished with eight blocks and the
Golden Eagles had 13 service aces in the victory.
La Sierra continues their trip with an 11am match at Pacific
Union College tomorrow afternoon, before closing out their trip on Thursday at
Menlo College. They will look to improve
on their record that now stands at 12-6.
The Golden Eagles will be back at home a week from this Thursday, when
they play host to the University of Redlands.
