Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. - The men's soccer team dropped their Cal Pac South Division match, 3-2, at Marymount University. The Mariners remain undefeated in Cal Pac play with a record of 7-0, in first place of the South Division.
The Mariners jumped out to the early lead with a goal in the 10th minute, to take a 1-0 lead.
La Sierra answered quickly, when Edgar Padilla scored (unassisted) his first of two goals in the match, just over three minutes later.
With the score tied at 1-1, Kevin Alhquist-Faye put Marymount back into the lead with an unassisted goal in the 29th minute.
But with only 41 seconds remaining in the first half, Padilla struck for his second goal, on an assist by sophomore Josue Meza.
The Mariners scored the only goal of the second half, and eventual game-winner, with a goal in the 56th minute by Sascha Haecker, assisted by Jonas Springer.
The two teams played an even first half, with two goals each and total shots of 13 between the two teams, with the Mariners holding a slight advantage by one shot.
But the Mariners dominated the second half offensively, as they tallied 13 total shots to only one shot for the Golden Eagles. La Sierra's goalkeeper, Jaime Valencia, tallied seven of his eight saves in the second half barrage, keeping his team within one goal and allowing them the opportunity to score the tying goal.
