Redding, Calif. - The women's volleyball team picked up their second Cal Pac Conference win, with a 3-1 victory at Simpson University, 16-25, 25-18,25-18, 25-17.
Despite a slow start, losing Set 1 in convincing manner, the Golden Eagles were able to rebound to take the next three sets and push their Cal Pac record to 2-0 (3-10 overall).
Robyn Miller had a stellar match, leading all players with 19 kills in addition to 16 digs, three solo blocks, and two service aces.
Lina Semaia pitched in with 16 kills and 11 digs, while Abby Latuhoi added seven kills and seven digs in the effort.
Angie Gonzalez tallied 42 assists, also a match-high for the Golden Eagles setter. Libero Chantal Washington contributed a match-high of her own, with 18 digs.
La Sierra did a better job limiting their service errors, and nearly cancelled them out with five total service aces. In comparison, the Golden Eagles capitalized on 10 service errors, by the Red Hawks, with zero service aces.
Next up for the Golden Eagles will be another Cal Pac match, versus Pacific Union College, in Angwin, CA. La Sierra defeated the Pioneers, 3-1, in their first conference match of the season, back on September 8. The Pioneers are currently 1-1 in Cal Pac play (9-7 overall), having recently defeated Embry-Riddle University (Ariz.), on Thursday, 3-1.
