Riverside, Calif. - The women' s volleyball team fell in four sets (25-27, 25-19, 25-9, 25-16) to #23 Cal State San Marcos tonight, at the Alumni Pavilion.
The Golden Eagles took the first set, in what looked as though might be a back-and-forth affair. But the Cougars took control, sweeping La Sierra in the next three sets.
After starting the match with an attack percentage of .163, San Marcos won the next three sets with an attack percentage of .321, which included a percentage of .500 in Set 3 (15 kills, 0 errors, 30 attempts).
Lina Semaia led the Golden Eagles with 16 kills, to go along with seven digs. Robyn Miller finished with 13 kills and an attack percentage of .345. She also contributed 15 digs.
Setter Angie Gonzalez tallied 28 assists and six digs, while Chantel Washington added 14 digs from the libero position.
The Cougars were led by Alyssa Hubbard who tied a match-high with 16 kills, only three errors, on 29 total attempts, for a stellar attack percentage of .448. Brooke Butler who collected 12 kills and 11 digs joined her in the effort.
With the loss, the women's volleyball team drops to 2-7 on the season (1-0 in Cal Pac play). They are back on the road this Wednesday for another non-conference match-up, at The Master's College. Wednesday's match will be the third of four matches the two teams will play this season. The Mustangs have defeated the Golden Eagles in the two previous meetings.
