Padilla Notches Hat Trick In Rout of PUC

Edgar Padilla scored three of La Sierra's nine goals; as the Golden Eagles cruised to another conference win over Pacific Union College, with a final score of 9-0.

The Pioneers had one of their few scoring chances in the early minutes of today's lopsided match-up, but were unable to capitalize. Pacific Union was only able to collect one shot on goal and three total shots during the match.

As a team, the Golden Eagles had a season-high 28 shots on goal and 38 total shots.

Josue Meza got the scoring started with an unassisted goal in the 6th minute.

Raymundo Maldonado scored one of his two goals in the match in the 14th minute and notched an assist on a goal by Joseph Fernandez in the 18th minute.

Padilla scored his first of three goals in the 32nd minute, assisted by Raymond Alvarado.

La Sierra took a comfortable 4-0 lead into the half, quickly adding on to it with a goal in the 53rd minute, by Brandon Chavez.

After Maldonado scored his second goal of the day, Padilla scored again off of an assist by Maldonado, in the 67th minute.

The scoring barrage continued when Padilla finished off the hat trick with his third goal in the 69th minute.

Joel Mendoza capped off the scoring with a goal in the 73rd minute, assisted by Francisco Hernandez.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve their Cal Pac record to 3-2 (3-6 overall). They will take a break from conference play this week to host Bethesda University in a non-conference match, on Thursday evening, at 6pm.
