Men's Soccer Win Third Straight

Lake Tahoe, Calif. - The Golden Eagles men's soccer team improved to 3-1 in Cal Pac play with a 4-1 victory over Sierra Nevada College, on Sunday afternoon. It was a brisk afternoon in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with temperatures in the mid-40's during the match. But the temperatures didn't cool off the Golden Eagles who have now won three straight matches.

Noe Garcia scored for the third straight match to give La Sierra a 1-0, with an assist from Franco Jourdan. Israel Vasquez scored an unassisted goal just seconds later, to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0.

Sierra Nevada's Tyler Rayman cut the lead in half with the Eagles only goal of the match, in the 26th minute. But Felipe Mendizabal answered by scoring his second goal, in as many matches, pushing the lead back to two goals for La Sierra, heading into the halftime break.

Alfonso Gonzalez scored the only goal of the second half, in the 71st minute, vaulting the Golden Eagles to victory.

Freshmen goalkeeper, Nick Putrasahan, picked up his third win of the year by making eight saves, while giving up one goal in the match.

La Sierra finished the match with 23 total shots, with 17 being shots-on-goal, compared to Sierra Nevada's 11 shots-on-goal on 17 total shots.
