Riverside, Calif. - The women's basketball team returned to action on Wednesday night in their first game since prior to the Thanksgiving holiday. The Golden Eagles fell to The Master's University, 87-52 in the non-conference game.
La Sierra battled the Mustangs in the first quarter of play, as they trailed by just three points, 21-18, after the first 10 minutes. But the Mustangs pulled away for good in the second quarter, by outscoring the Golden Eagles 25-7 in the quarter, taking a 45-25 lead into the halftime break.
The deficit proved too much to overcome for La Sierra who dropped to 3-5 on the season as the Mustangs improved to 5-1 on the year.
The Master's had four players score in double-figures led by Ashley Bartow who finished with a game-high 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Alexis Davis had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures for the Golden Eagles was DeShields Fajardo who scored 12 points and led the team with five assists.
The women's basketball team will open Cal Pac play on Saturday night when they host the University of Antelope Valley. The women will play the first game of a doubleheader, starting at 6pm.
