Women's Basketball Drops Two Cal Pac Games on Weekend Trip

The women's basketball team dropped two Cal Pac games over the weekend, dropping to 1-5 in the conference standings. On Thursday, the Golden Eagles fell 68-58 to Cal Maritime Academy, followed by a 74-60 loss to UC Merced on Saturday night.

La Sierra led for the majority of Thursday's game, at Cal Maritime, but the Keelhaulers overtook the lead late in the third quarter and didn't look back. The Golden Eagles held a 13-point lead early in the game, and settle for a 35-28 lead at the halftime break. The Golden Eagles were outscored 40-23 in the second half of play, and were unable to keep pace despite a double-double from Alexis Davis with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Chelsie Baham, Rachel Hahn, and Korie Siets each scored nine points in the game.

The team then travelled to UC Merced where they found themselves in a quick deficit. The Golden Eagles scored just 17 points in the first half of play, as they trailed 37-17 at the half. La Sierra outscored the Bobcats 43-37 in the second half, but were unable to cut into the lead any further, eventually falling by a final of 74-60.

Baham led the team with 16 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Hahn added 13 points on the night.

The team has a week off from action, before closing out the regular season with two home games against Pacific Union College (February 18) and Simpson University (February 20).
