Baseball Drops Doubelheader to Morningside

The Golden Eagles baseball team dropped both games of today's doubleheader versus Morningside College (Sioux City, Iowa), 11-1 and 14-7. La Sierra has now lost nine of their last ten games.

Today's doubleheader was rescheduled games from Monday's games that were rained out. In the first game, Morningside jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the 1st inning, but the Golden Eagles took advantage of two Mustangs errors to tie the game at 1-1. Morningside used a 5-run third and a 3-run fifth inning to pull away for the victory.

Jared Sorenson pitched four innings, giving up just one run on one hit and three walks. Gabriel Gonzalez was charged with the loss for the Golden Eagles.

The Mustangs carried momentum into Game 2, where they scored in six of the seven innings played. The Golden Eagles finally broke through in the final two innings, pushing seven runs across the plate.

Matt Jaramillo went 3-for-3 with one RBI, while Dylan Lindsey added two RBI's with a pinch-hit single.

Lucas Henning picked up the win for the Mustangs, giving up no hits, one walk and striking out five through four innings of work. Jeff Guerrero is charged with the loss for the Golden Eagles.

The team will be back in action tomorrow when they host the University of Sioux Falls (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) for a doubleheader, starting at 11am.
