Golden Eagles Defeat Firebirds In Straight Sets

Riverside, Calif. - The women's volleyball team picked up another non-conference win, in straight sets, over St. Katherine College (25-20, 25-21, 25-22). The Golden Eagles controlled play at the net, cruising to an 11-7 overall record. The team will resume conference play, with two matches, this coming weekend.

The Golden Eagles had a total of 7.5 blocks, compared to only two blocks for the Firebirds. La Sierra had 15 block assists, with Noelle Hamblin leading the way with four of the 15.

Kiana Krumm, the current Cal Pac Attacker of the Week, led the team with 12 kills and 19 digs, both match-highs. Michele Mendizabal contributed 10 kills and Kiana Velasco finished with nine kills.

Marissa Fregoso led the team offensively with 24 assists in addition to 11 digs. Libero Emily Morgan added 12 digs in the win.

The women's volleyball team returns to conference play on Friday, at 1pm, when they host Pacific Union College. The Golden Eagles defeated the Pioneers in four sets, back on September 16. Friday's match will be the first of back-to-back matches for La Sierra, who will also play host to Simpson University this weekend, on Saturday night, at 7:30pm.
