Riverside, Caif. - The men's and women's soccer teams were each held scoreless in separate 2-0 losses, on the road, to Marymount University – California. The women fell to 4-4 to finish the Cal Pac regular season schedule at .500, while dropping to 11-5 overall. The men still have two conference matches to play and now stand at 7-5 in conference play, 9-6 overall.
La Sierra matched the Mariners with 12 total shots, and held a slight, 6-4 advantage over Marymount, in shots on goal. The Mariners scored both of their goals in the first half and held on for the victory.
Having concluded their conference schedule, the women are currently hanging on to the fourth and final playoff position. They must await the outcome of next weekend's match, featuring Benedictine University and #17 Embry-Riddle. Should the Redhawks win, they would move into the fourth position and knock the Golden Eagles out of a playoff spot.
The men matched up against the #16 Mariners who stayed undefeated in Cal Pac play by virtue of their win over La Sierra. In contrast to the women's contest, Marymount scored their two goals in the second half, as they two teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half of play.
Marymount used consistent pressure to come away with the victory. Marymount outshot La Sierra 20-5, including 10-3 in shots-on-goal.
The men must win at least one of their two remaining Cal Pac regular season matches in order to clinch a berth in the Cal Pac tournament. The Golden Eagles will face Pacific Union College and Simpson College, on the road, in their final two matches of the regular season. The two opponents are a combined 2-13-1 on the conference season.
On Sunday, the two teams will host St. Katherine College in two non-conference matches. Sunday will also serve as senior day for the two programs. The women will get things starts at 6pm, followed by the men at 8pm.
