Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Golden Eagles Fall at San Diego Christian

San Diego, Calif. - The men's basketball team let another game slip away, in a 74-67 loss, at San Diego Christian College, on Saturday night. The Golden Eagles were neck and neck with the Hawks throughout the entire game until San Diego Christian used a mini-run to take a 10-point lead in the final minutes of play. La Sierra answered back with an 8-0 run, cutting the lead to two points and had a possession to tie or take the lead but were unable to get over the hump.

The difference in the game proved to be the Hawks outscoring the Golden Eagles 21-13 in points off turnovers and 14-11 in second chance points. La Sierra surrendered eight of the Hawks 12 offensive rebounds in the second half of play. The Golden Eagles were also forced to play the large majority of the game in foul trouble, with three different players finishing the game with four fouls. San Diego Christian College took advantage of their trips to the foul line by connecting on 24-of-29 free throw attempts, including 11-of-11, from leading scorer Derek Novsek (24 points).

Freshman guard, DJ Everage, who shot hit 7-of-10 from the field, for 17 points, led La Sierra in scoring. Seniors Isaac Deese and Rey Solorzano each scored a total of 13 points in the loss. Solorzano, who also had nine rebounds, was one rebound shy of his second double-double in as many games.

The men's basketball team will be back in action on Tuesday, when they host #25 Westmont College (NAIA Division I), at 7pm. Last season, the Warriors defeated the Golden Eagles, up in Santa Barbara. The Warriors will have a new look after graduating six seniors from last season.
