Four Second Half Goals Propel Golden Eagles to Win Over Mills College

Oakland, Calif. - The women's soccer team improved to 5-0 on the season with a matching 5-0 win over Mills College, in Oakland, Calif., this afternoon. Alexandra Faye Larson scored the only goal of the first half, assisted by Anelis Mora, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead at the half.

The second half was a different story as La Sierra exploded for four goals to blow the match wide open and secure their fifth consecutive victory to start the season.

That goal was followed by another goal at 72:32, by Santana (assisted by Maisie Franklin), while Andrea Sida closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal at 73:45.

Aside from keeping another opponent scoreless, the Golden Eagles defense allowed just two shots by the Cyclones who failed to have a shot on goal for the match. Comparatively, La Sierra's offense controlled the play with a total of 26 shots and 16 shots on goal, keeping the Cyclones goalkeeper, Madison Cantrell, busy for most of the afternoon and finishing the match with 10 saves in the match.

The schedule now shifts to conference play. It will be the first full conference schedule for the Golden Eagles who played only a partial Cal Pac schedule last season. The team will get things started with Sierra Nevada College, at home, on Thursday evening, at approximately 8pm, following the conclusion of the men's conference opener.
