Riverside, Calif. - In a rematch of the team's second match of the season, the women's soccer team welcomed back Ottawa University (AZ) for tonight's non-conference match-up. Similar to that meeting, the Golden Eagles picked up another victory, in a 1-0 decision, to move their record to 7-0 on the year.
Back on September 2, the Golden Eagles handed the Spirit their first loss of the season, in a 2-0 victory. Tonight, in what was a relatively even match-up, the difference came down to a goal by Marissa Gonzalez in the 71st minute.
The Golden Eagles outshot the Spirit, 12-5, including 6-2 in shots on goal. La Sierra also had shots that glanced off of the crossbar and post during the first half of play.
Freshman goalkeeper Emily Orsatt picked up her first win, in her first match in goal this season for the Golden Eagles. She finished with two saves and kept the team's record intact, of not allowing a goal thus far this season.
La Sierra will now turn their attention back to conference play as the team prepares for Providence Christian College. The Seabeggars are 1-4-1 on the season and are winless in their last five matches. Kick-off for Thursday's match is scheduled for 6pm.
