Golden Eagles Complete Weekend Sweep with Wins Over Simpson and PUC

The Golden Eagles women's volleyball team completed a weekend sweep, by winning three matches in consecutive days and pushing their most current win streak to five straight. After opening the weekend with a 5-set win at the University of California – Merced, La Sierra then traveled to Simpson University and Pacific Union College, where they picked up straight set victories in both matches. La Sierra is now 17-11 overall and 12-3 in Cal Pac play. The wins helped the team lock up a playoff position as the number two seed in the upcoming Cal Pac tournament.

La Sierra def. Simpson, 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-23)

The Golden Eagles sandwiched in a dominating performance, between two competitive sets to defeat the Red Hawks and sweep the season series between the two teams. Simpson had no player reach double-figures in kills, while the Golden Eagles had three different hitters in double-digits, led by Ashlin Orosco's 12 kills. Adiva Joseph had a career-high 11 kills, and was matched by Veronica Ramirez's 11 kills in the win. Emily Morgan led the team with 20 digs, while Angala Jensen compiled a total of 42 assists to lead all players.

La Sierra def. Pacific Union, 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-21)

Orosco once again led the way with 16 kills and a hitting percentage of .324. Kiana Krumm also had a strong showing with 12 kills in addition to 14 digs which was a match-high. Jensen notched 35 assists in the victory, while Morgan finished with 13 kills, two service aces, and one kill.

The women's volleyball team has two matches remaining in their regular season schedule. On Tuesday evening, the Golden Eagles will travel to San Diego Christian College for a non-conference match starting at 7:30pm. The team will close the regular season with Saturday night's match-up, at 7pm, versus the University of Antelope Valley, which will also serve as senior night for the women's volleyball team.
