El Cajon, Calif. - The women's volleyball team pushed their season record to 18-11 with Tuesday's latest victory over San Diego Christian. The Golden Eagles travelled to El Cajon, California, where they held on for a 3-2 (25-11, 25-17, 18-25, 20-25, 15-9) win over the Hawks, in a non-conference match. The win also completes a season series sweep over SDCC, who the Golden Eagles defeated 3-0, back on September 18. The volleyball team has now won their last six matches, and 15 of their last 16 matches.
La Sierra stormed out to a 2-0 lead, with dominating victories in the first two sets, but the Hawks battled back to push the match to a fifth set, eventually won by the Golden Eagles.
Outside hitter Ashlin Orosco led the way for the Golden Eagles with 14 kills, while Kiana Krumm added 10 kills and 13 digs. Angala Jensen finished with 37 assists, with Emily Morgan leading the team with 16 digs.
Despite committing 12 service errors, the Golden Eagles were able to overcome the errors with an equal number of service aces. The team also finished with a total of nine team blocks, and outhit the Hawks 51-39 in total kills.
The women's volleyball will return home, this Saturday night, for their final regular season home match of the season. The Golden Eagles will host the University of Antelope Valley, at 7pm, before turning their attention to the Cal Pac Championship tournament the following weekend.
