La Sierra Wins Third Straight With Victory Over Providence

Pasadena, Calif. – The Golden Eagles women's soccer team defeated Providence Christian College, 3-0, for their third straight win. With the win, La Sierra improves their record to 5-4 in Cal Pac play (8-5 overall). Despite the win the team has officially been eliminated from playoff consideration, due to losses to the University of Antelope Valley and Marymount University, the two teams ahead of them in the conference standings.

Jennifer Medina led the team with a goal and an assist, on the team's two first half goals. Medina scored in the 16thminute to give the Golden Eagles an early lead. Medina connected with Mariah Anaya, in the 41stminute, pushing the lead to 2-0 just before the halftime break. Alicia Garcia scored another insurance goal, unassisted, three minutes into the start of the second half.

La Sierra dominated ball possession, evidenced by a 29-5 advantage in total shots, including a 19-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The women's soccer team will host the University of California Merced, Sunday afternoon, at 12pm, in their final match of the season.
