WBB: Golden Eagles Playoff Pulse Still Beats With Win Over CMA

Vallejo, Calif. - The women's basketball team picked up a Cal Pac conference win, 75-63, at California Maritime Academy, on Saturday night. The win pushed the Golden Eagles record to 6-6 in conference play (11-15 overall), and still alive in the playoff race. La Sierra must defeat Benedictine University, in Thursday's game, then defeat first-place Embry-Riddle and have Benedictine lose to Antelope Valley, on Saturday night to earn a berth in the Cal Pac tournament.

As has become customary of late, the Golden Eagles got out the gates slowly and trailed after the first quarter of play, 22-15. The team answered back with a 23-14 advantage in the second quarter of play, taking a slim 38-36 advantage into the halftime break.

The Golden Eagles came out of the locker room and stifled the Keelhaulers offense, holding Maritime to just 11 points in the third quarter of play. La Sierra built a comfortable lead, on their way to victory.

La Sierra dominated play in the paint, 34-18, and also finished with a 30-15 advantage in 'points off turnovers'.

Mikayla Stitt led all players with a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds. Wanna Wong finished with a career-high 18 points in the win.

The team will now turn their attention to Benedictine University, who the Golden Eagles lost to back on January 20, by a final of 80-76. Thursday's big game versus Benedictine University is set to tip off at 5:30pm.
