WBB Keeps Pace With Win Over Simpson

Riverside, Calif. - After snapping a losing streak, on Thursday night, the Golden Eagles women's basketball team won back-to-back games with Saturday's 69-60 win over Simpson University. La Sierra used a dominating fourth quarter to improve to .500 (5-5) in Cal Pac play and 10-14 overall. The team kept pace, but still sits a game and a half outside of a playoff spot, with four games left to play.

It was a tightly contested game throughout, with La Sierra taking a slim 33-30 lead into the halftime break. By the end of the third quarter, the Redhawks took a 50-49 lead, but the Golden Eagles outscored Simpson, 20-10, in the final quarter for their fifth conference victory.

Mikayla Stitt led all scorers with 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting. Stittl also pulled down six rebounds, which tied Taylor Ivicevic for the team-high. Alexis Davis finished with 15 points, five rebounds, four steals, three assists, and two blocks. Elsie Mejia rounds out the top scoreres with 12 points in the win. DeShields Fajardo finished with a team-high five assists, of the team's 12 total assists.

The women's basketball team will now look ahead to the University of California – Merced, who currently sit in third place with a record of 8-2. The Golden Eagles will visit the Bobcats, this coming Thursday, looking to climb closer to a playoff spot. The Bobcats defeated La Sierra in their first meeting of the season, back on January 13.
