Riverside, Calif. - Israel Vasquez scored two goals to lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-1 win over San Diego Christian College. The men's soccer team improved to 2-3 on the season and will play two more non-conference match before opening conference play next weekend.
Vasquez started the scoring with an early goal in the 7thminute of play, which he followed up with the eventual game winning goal in the 17thminute.
The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 lead into the half, but the lead was cut in half in the opening minutes of the second half when the Hawks scored their lone goal of the match.
La Sierra's Jessie Aramburo scored, on a nice feed from Felipe Mendizabal, in the 70thminute, pushing the lead back to a two-goal advantage. Mendizabal added an unassisted goal to his tally, in the 83rdminute, to close out the scoring for the night.
The team is back in action on Saturday night when they host Northwestern College, with an 8pm kick-off. La Sierra will travel to the University of St. Katherine, on Tuesday, September 18, for their final non-conference match before opening Cal Pac play next Thursday, at Sierra Nevada College.
