Riverside, Calif. - After defeating San Diego Christian College on Thursday night, the Golden Eagles men's soccer team hosted Northwestern College, on Saturday night, for a non-conference match. The Red Raiders dominated both halves, on their way to a convincing 9-0 win over the Golden Eagles. La Sierra falls to 2-4 on the season with the loss.
With the match locked in a scoreless tie, the Red Raiders scored three goals in a span of 4:22. Tyler Limmer scored the first two goals in the 31stand 35thminute, while Brenno Fabbri made it 3-0 with a goal just 48 seconds after the previous goal. Northwestern extended the lead to 4-0 second before the halftime buzzer, and went into the half with a 4-0 advantage. The Red Raiders added five more goals in the second half of play, and cruised to victory.
Northwestern finished with a 20-3 advantage in total shots, including a 12-2 differential in shots on goal.
The Golden Eagles will travel to Encinitas, Calif., on Tuesday afternoon, to face the University of St. Katherine in their final non-conference match, before opening Cal Pac play next Thursday, at Sierra Nevada College. Tuesday's match kicks off at 1pm.
