Riverside, Calif. - The Golden Eagles women's volleyball team defeated Simpson University, 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 27-25), to win their fifth straight match and third straight Cal Pac match. La Sierra improves to 8-10 on the season and 3-2 in Cal Pac play. Tonight's match was the first of three consecutive Cal Pac matches that will be played over three consecutive days.
La Sierra was in complete control during the large majority of the match, with the exception of Set 3, where the team had to erase a five-point lead on two different occasions. The Red Hawks survived one match-point and actually had a set-point of their own, at 25-24, before the Golden Eagles scored the final three points of the match, and pick up the victory.
Ashlin Orosco had a match-high 11 kills in the match, while Kiana Krumm added another 10 kills and 14 digs in the win. Veronica Ramirez and Asia Shelton each contributed six kills against only two errors.
Angala Jensen finished with 26 assists in addition to four kills, while libero Emily Morgan led the team in digs, with 20.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Golden Eagles will jump back into action, versus Pacific Union College. The match will get underway at 2pm.
