San Marcos, Calif. - The women's volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to the University of St. Katherine (25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 15-12), in Thursday's non-conference road match. It was the second of five straight road matches for the Golden Eagles. The loss drops the team's record to 3-6 on the season.
After dropping the first set, La Sierra stormed back to win the next two sets, before losing the final two sets by narrow margins. It was the first five-set match this season for the Golden Eagles, who played a relatively even match based on the numbers.
La Sierra finished with a hitting percentage of .197 to the Firebirds percentage of .199. The Golden Eagles had more kills (66-51) than St. Katherine, but also concluded the match with 11 more hitting errors (29-11) on a total of 22 more attack attempts (188-166) than the Firebirds.

The women's volleyball team will look to halt a five-match skid, with the tough task of facing California Baptist University, in their first season as an NCAA Division I member. The Golden Eagles will face the Lancers on Tuesday, September 11, at 5pm. It will be the first meeting between the two teams. La Sierra will open Cal Pac play on the road, at Embry-Riddle University, next Friday, September 14.
