After the Marymount pitching staff silenced the Golden Eagles offense, to close out the regular season, this past weekend, the Golden Eagles softball team will now set their sights on the Cal Pac tournament. La Sierra qualified for postseason play as the fourth seed, with a conference record of 7-13 and an overall record of 13-25. The Cal Pac Tournament is set for May 2-5, hosted by defending champions, Simpson University, in Redding, California.
The Golden Eagles were held to just one run, through four games and 20 innings of play, during the two doubleheaders at Marymount University this past weekend. By virtue of sweeping all four games, the Mariners claimed their first Cal Pac regular season championship in softball. The Mariners finished the regular season with a 17-3 conference record, two games ahead of tournament host Simpson University.
The Golden Eagles finished in a tie with the University of Antelope Valley, in the conference standings, but snagged the final spot in the championship tournament after winning the head-to-head tiebreaker by winning three of the four games played between the two teams.
La Sierra will get another shot right from the start as they will start the double-elimination tournament, by facing Marymount in Thursday's first game of the day, at 10am.
