Pasadena, Calif. – The La Sierra University Volleyball Program traveled to Providence Christian College (0-4) for their season opener, picking up a win in four sets (14-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-16).
After 16 months away from competition due to COVID-19 constraints, the Golden Eagles had a slow start in the first set falling 14-25, but it didn't take them long to shake the rust off. In the second set, the Golden Eagles struck first and their momentum continued, taking sets two (25-13) three (25-24) and four (25-16) in their wining effort.
The Golden Eagles had 44 kills on the night; Michele Mendizabal led the effort with 10 kills followed by eight from Adiva Joseph and another seven from Alexa Lister. Setter, Brittani Bentley ended with 21 assists.
Libero, Trinity Wyscarver anchored the defense with 27 digs and Bailey Coffin added another 12 digs of her own. Alexa Lister finished with six blocks.
Head Coach, Erin Sintek said, "The synergy of this team is amazing. Very proud of how they played. They stayed together as a team, which is crucial [and] shows a lot of promise."
Next up, the Golden Eagles are on the road again to San Diego Christian College, Feb. 27th.
