Riverside, Calif. – Women's Volleyball headed into their second match in conference play against Benedictine University Mesa (Mesa, Ariz.). The Golden Eagles fell in five sets to the Redhawks, 25-21, 13-25, 25-22, 18-25, 8-15.
The match saw 18 ties and 7 lead changes. La Sierra was able to tally up 48 kills, 6 blocks, and 47 assists on the day but that was no match for the Redhawsk 71 kills.
La Sierra took set one out hitting Benedictine Mesa .111 to .109. The Redhawks surged back and clinched the second set with a twelve-point decision. La Sierra came back in set three with a point to prove. After giving up the first point, Golden Eagles were able to come back and hold the lead capitalizing on multiple service errors by Benedictine Mesa.
The match got interesting in the fourth set where the most ties were seen. Kills by Ayana Felton, Michele Mendizabal, and Torri Lambert were not enough to stop Benedictine's breakaway. The fifth set proved equally as exciting with the two teams going toe-to-toe. Golden Eagles fought back three times and took an early timeout but Benedictine Mesa held on to win 15-8.
