RIVERSIDE - Kierston-Joy Kuresa celebrates her senior game after transferring to the Golden Eagles this past season. Kierston-Joy transferred from former Cal Pac member University of Antelope Valley where she played three seasons with them. In her rookie season, she picked up 154 kills, 156 digs, 375 receptions, 12 assists, 14 solo blocks, 11 block assists, and 23 service aces. In her sophomore year, she added 26 kills, 74 digs, 121 receptions, 6 assists, 2 solo blocks, 1 block assist, and 6 service aces. Last season she added 176 kills, 249 digs, 321 receptions, 26 assists, 12 solo blocks, 16 block assists, and 22 service aces. This season, she picked up 219 kills, 153 digs, 342 receptions, 9 assists, 2 solo blocks, 31 block assists, and 15 service aces. In her career she totals 575 kills, 632 digs, 1,159 receptions, 53 assists, 30 solo blocks, 59 block assists, and 66 service aces. This year she has also had many career accomplishments, such as, 500 career kills, 500 career digs, and 1,000 career receptions. She also earned a career high of 219 kills in a season and 31 block assists in a season. She ranks 6th in conference in kills and 9th in conference in block assists.
This year Kierston-Joy has made the Dean's List and maintained a 3.8 gpa. In the future she wants to graduate and get her Bachelor's Degree by next year. After graduation, she plans to go back to school in Las Vegas to get her Master's in Public Health or Healthcare Administration.
Kuresa describes her experience at La Sierra; “With just being at La Sierra for a couple months I have enjoyed it. I like the environment the school has and how everyone is welcoming as well. I am looking forward to seeing what I will be doing at La Sierra as the year goes on.”
Kierston-Joy will be remembered for her outgoing personality and her hard hitting kills on the court.

Question: What was your favorite sports memory at La Sierra?
Kierston-Joy Kuresa: My favorite sports memory would be when we played against UC Merced at home because we all had each other's backs and we didn't let anything stop us from getting that win.
Q: How long have you been playing this sport and how did you get into playing this sport?
KJK: I played volleyball for 10 years. I got into volleyball because I loved the feeling of being on a team and the excitement it gives me when playing on the court.
Q: Who is your biggest influence?
KJK: My biggest influence is my family especially my parents. If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be the woman I am today and I wouldn't be where I am right now.
Q: Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
KJK:
I like to listen to music and I like to be by myself because I like to prepare myself mentally and physically for the game. A superstition for me is that I don't wash my ankle braces until after season.
Q: What is your perfect pre-game meal?
KJK: I usually don't really eat a lot before a game but I like to eat something small like a protein bar or fruits.
Q: Go to pump up song or music?
KJK:
I like to listen to different types of music. But right now I like hawaiian music, reggae, and r&b.
Q: What do you enjoy doing on your days off?
KJK:
I love to spend time with family and friends. I also enjoy laying in bed and relaxing in my off days.
Q: Who is your favorite sports team/player?
KJK: Dallas Cowboys (My moms team lol)
