Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Golden Eagles Shutout OUAZ, 2-0

RIVERSIDE - La Sierra men's soccer team faced Ottawa University Arizona in a 2-0 victory to push their win streak to six games.

A foul to Elias Quintanar Macias in the box gave the Golden Eagles their first scoring opportunity in the 20th minute of the first half. Sean Palena stepped up for the kick and placed the ball to the left as the goalkeeper was diving right. The goal marked his 11th on the season, which leads the squad.

Goal two of the game followed just nine minutes later with Quintanar Macias. An attempt on goal from Vinicius Goncalves forced a goal kick. Pressure from Quintanar Macias, Damian Jimenez, and Carlos Leon kept the ball on the Spirit end. The ball found the head of Alvaro Romero who knocked it to the feet of Quintanar Macias to net the ball.

Neither side could get a goal off in the second half, despite the Golden Eagles having multiple good looks on goal. The defensive line of Christopher Aceves, Jose Alcala, and Landon Mead kept Ottawa to only four shots in the game.

Freshman Saul Lucero got the call in goal tonight for his first start of conference play. Lucero totaled two saves and showed good command of the ball. He earned his first shutout in his rookie season.

La Sierra totaled 18 shots in the game with nine coming from each half. The win marked men's soccer fourth shutout of the year.

The Golden Eagles are next set to face Embry Riddle Aeronautical University on Thursday, October 30th at 7:30 p.m. for the last regular season game of the year. The game will celebrate the Golden Eagles seniors.
