Baseball Secure Postseason Bid in Final Conference Game of the Year

RIVERSIDE - The Golden Eagle baseball team clinched a spot in the postseason with a victory in their final conference game of the season. The Golden Eagles are headed to North Dakota for the North Star Athletic Association Championship Tournament from May 2nd to May 5th. Games will be held at Dickinson State.

The Golden Eagles secured the win in the April 25th game against Simpson University with a 12-7 final score. Simpson put a run on the board in the bottom of the first, but La Sierra was quick to answer with three runs of their own in the top of the second. Simpson answered back with 6 runs in the bottom of the second to lead now 7-3. With pitching efforts from Ryan Cole, Jayden Jones and Kyle Schelling, the Golden Eagles kept the Red Hawks scoreless for the rest of the game. The top of the fifth put the Golden Eagles back on top with 5 additional runs. They added four more runs in the ninth to give insurance and solidify the win. Bobby Benavidez, Adam Amara, Ethan Gibbs, and Stephen Chavez continued to be driving factors for the Golden Eagles.

The team this season has had many key players, each stepping up when needed. Through injury and adversities, this team has stood strong, supporting each other and working together as one.

The Golden Eagles currently stand at 9-9 in conference with a 19-17 overall record. They have one more non conference game scheduled for this afternoon (April 25th) against Simpson University.

The Golden Eagles look to continue their momentum and successes as they travel to North Dakota for the postseason.
