Men’s Soccer Settle in for 2025 Season

RIVERSIDE - Women's Volleyball prepares for the 2025 season as La Sierra University steps into the Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC). With the transition into the new conference, the Golden Eagles are set to face Arizona Christian University, Benedictine University Mesa, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott, Hope International University, Life Pacific College, Ottawa University Surprise, Park University Gilbert, Soka University of America, and The Master's University.

The Golden Eagles are led by Head Coach David Trevino. Francisco Pons and DJ Bonanken return as assistant coaches for another year.

Trevino is excited about his new group of athletes, and is looking forward to seeing the postseason again, "We plan to take the GSAC head on and continue to do what we do. We have a great group of guys, and are ready to put into effect what we've been working on in the off season. We are here to win and that is what we plan to do."

The Golden Eagles see 9 returners with the addition of 13 new athletes. Jose Alcala and Sean Palena return to the field after receiving high Cal Pac Honors last season. Alex Munoz and Christopher Aceves also return to the field for their senior year.

Returning junior Damian Jimenez looks forward to the upcoming season, "This season I'm looking forward to a winning season, also stepping into more of a leadership role along with the other upperclassmen. We have a young team with a lot of energy and potential to build a strong team going into the GSAC, the goal is to win."

La Sierra finished 4-3 in conference play with a 8-7-1 record overall and added another postseason appearance last year. They appeared in the championship match after defeating #16 Westcliff University where they finished in second place. As newcomers to the conference, the GSAC ranks the Golden Eagles 7th in the preseason poll with 38 points. The new conference provides a fresh level of competitiveness that the Golden Eagles look to tackle head on.

This season, the Golden Eagles took the field for the first time for an exhibition against Compton College on Friday August 15th, and are next set to appear in a scrimmage against Bethesda University on Monday August 18th at 6:00 pm. Their conference opener will take place Wednesday September 17th against Soka University at 6:00 pm in Aliso Viejo, Calif. La Sierra looks to make a name for themselves in the GSAC and find a spot in the postseason.
