La Sierra Falls in Four to Life Pacific

SAN DIMAS - La Sierra women's volleyball battled four sets against Life Pacific University Thursday night at Mehl Court.

Set scores were 25-22, 15-25, 23-25, 20-25.

Abigail Hines was a bright spot for the Golden Eagles knocking down a team high 16 kills with a .325 hitting percentage. This also proved to be Hines' season high in kills.

Lindsay Delgadillo shined at the setter position with her second double-double of the season, collecting 25 assists and 11 digs. Lanah Bergen continued her impressive season with a performance of 14 kills. 

Julissa Rodriguez led the Golden Eagles with 3 solo blocks and Hailey Frary added 2. Sarah Patin earned 14 assists with 8 digs. Herlinda Casanova and Kaylee Torres added 11 digs apiece. Libero Ava Himstreet totaled 24 digs.

The Golden Eagles came out strong taking set one from the Warriors. The Golden Eagles led the majority of the set after the Warriors took the first point. After a change in lead, La Sierra secured the win with kills from Bergen and Hines, and capitalizing on attack errors from LPU.

La Sierra had the advantage in the second set taking three points to start. Tides turned with the Golden Eagles struggling to get things going offensively after the early lead. The Warriors pushed past to take a second set victory.

Set three offered a nail-biter, with a close decision in the final set score. La Sierra took an early lead for the second set in a row, but attack errors on the Golden Eagles end tied things up. However, the Golden Eagles went on multiple scoring runs with kills from Hines, Bergen, Sweetheart Salaveo, and Alisa Gavva. The set saw 11 score ties with three lead changes. With a score of 23 across the board couldn't convert any swings to points, and LPU took the lead in the game.

The final set saw a 7 point scoring run from the Warriors. The Golden Eagles managed to get within two of LPU. The rocky start of set four ultimately came to be the downfall of La Sierra in the match. Finishing the set down by five, the Golden Eagles fell to the Warriors.

Women's volleyball returns home Sunday, September 28 for a 2:00 pm match against Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
