Women’s Soccer Prepare for 2025 Season

RIVERSIDE - Women's Volleyball prepares for the 2025 season as La Sierra University steps into the Great Southwest Athletic Conference (GSAC). With the transition into the new conference, the Golden Eagles are set to face Arizona Christian University, Benedictine University Mesa, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Prescott, Hope International University, Life Pacific College, Ottawa University Surprise, Park University Gilbert, Soka University of America, and The Master's University.

The Golden Eagles are led by Head Coach Carlos Trevino. Ivan Sanchez returns as an assistant coach, and they add Roberto Diaz (Rudo) and Jesse Hardeman to the coaching staff.

Trevino is excited to be back on campus with the team and has his eye on the postseason, "We've been putting a lot of work in and are becoming stronger each day. The team has been looking really solid, and we are looking forward to playing against some new competition in the GSAC. We have strong returners and new faces on the team this year, and we plan on applying pressure to win games."

The Golden Eagles see 14 returners with the addition of 9 new athletes. Elaina Gonzalez, Monserrath Arellano-Ayla, and Ali Razon return to the field after receiving high Cal Pac Honors last season. Leslie Lopez and Alyssa Rangel Esparza also return to the field with their experience as long-time Golden Eagles.

La Sierra finished 2-3-2 in conference play with a 4-7-4 overall record. As newcomers to the conference, the GSAC ranks the Golden Eagles 8th in the preseason poll with 26 points. The new conference provides a fresh level of competitiveness that the Golden Eagles look to tackle head on.

Senior Isabella Iniguez offers a few remarks on her final season as a Golden Eagle, "For this upcoming season at La Sierra, I am looking forward to spending time with my teammates and to enjoying my last year playing soccer. I hope to make new memories and enjoy every moment I have playing, practicing, and enjoying my time as we move forward to doing our best in the GSAC."

This season, the Golden Eagles took the field for the first time for a scrimmage against Compton College on Friday August 15th. Their conference opener will take place Wednesday September 17th against Soka University at 4:30 pm in Aliso Viejo, Calif. La Sierra looks to make a name for themselves in the GSAC and find a spot in the postseason.
