RIVERSIDE - Gianna Mejia celebrates her senior night after one season with the Golden Eagles. The transfer from University of Saint Katherine spent her first three seasons with the Firebirds. In her career, she's appeared in 48 games for 21 starts. During her time at USK, she totaled one goal and one assist. At La Sierra this season, she has two goals on the year. Goals came in the win against Cal Maritime 9-0 and in their previous game against Westcliff University.
Gianna will earn her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. In the future, she plans to work for her father's business upon graduation. She ultimately plans on starting a career in marketing for sports.
Mejia describes her experience at La Sierra; “My time here at La Sierra has been short but very sweet! Transferring to La Sierra for my senior year was probably one of the best decisions I have made. I have made friendships that will last a lifetime! I wanna thank my teammates for making my time here such a blast.”
Gianna will be remembered for her positive attitude and big smile.

Question: What was your favorite sports memory at La Sierra?
GM: My favorite sports memory at La Sierra has to be scoring my goal against Westcliff and seeing all my teammates jumping and cheering for me. I loved how everyone on the field decided to run over and tackle me too.
Q: How long have you been playing this sport and how did you get into playing this sport?
GM: I have been playing soccer since I was four years old. I started playing soccer because I looked up to my older sister growing up and she played soccer so I started too.
Q: Who is your biggest influence?
GM: My biggest influence in life is my parents. They have both sacrificed so much of their time to see me play the sport I love to play. Their support and love is my motivation for everything in life. I love you guys and thank you for everything!
Q: Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
GM: My superstition is I have to wear my purple bow in my hair and tape my left wrist.
Q: What is your perfect pre-game meal?
GM: Chicken and rice

Q: What do you enjoy doing on your days off?
GM: I like to spend time with my family on my off days since I don't see them very much.
Q: Who is your favorite sports team/player?
GM: If you know me, then you know I love the Los Angeles Dodgers and I especially love Kike Hernandez! Dodgers are going to win the world series this year!!!
